The LA Reporter | Sep 8th

Good morning. The message of the week is ‘Build while you’re in it.’ One of the toughest things I’ve learned over the years, especially building SBRBN, is that you’ve got to build the plane WHILE it’s in the air. It’s scary, it’s frustrating, it’s not fair and it sucks…A LOT. But if you can, settle in on this idea - things can get easier for you. I was driving the other day… thinking to myself. WOW.. this is so hard. Although I am blessed and privileged; I don’t come from that. I’m learning how to build a business in real time.

What’s the one food option that never fails us? Wings.

Not just any wings can satisfy the palate of a young LA native either, we’re the wing experts. So in light of our expertise, we’re here to direct you to the top 10 best wing spots in the city that are homegrown to us (with a few exceptions). Only the top tier get all flats, and that’s law, but y’all will recognize that this is a diverse list full of all wing shapes and sizes.

Wings and Pot

This business has a reputation for being the best wings in LA. Shoutout to the black-owned businesses taking the lead. Here you can customize your loaded potato or fries. There are so many saucy options, however one of the most popular options seems to be the garlic Parmesan. The flavor on these is unbeatable. We’re going to give this place a solid 10/10.

2108 W Manchester Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90047

C&W Chris Fish and Chicken

Another black-owned business takes the charge here with C&W. Known for a fish and chicken combo, this crispy fresh option is ideal when you want the best of both worlds. Although they have been criticized for the smaller size of their wings and strictly being cash only, their food is a hit nonetheless and truly a staple when it comes to eating good.

6512 S Western Ave. Los Angeles, CA 90047.

American Deli

One of my personal favorites, I love the option of getting your wings extra wet at this establishment. An Atlanta-based franchise, yet booming in LA. There’s always going to be a line here because the crinkle-cut fries and peach tea with the wing combos could parallel the crack epidemic. Shoutout to Tyler G. for putting me on, I haven’t left since! With multiple locations available, you can choose the one most convenient for you, but I’m going to recommend the Inglewood location.

425 E. Manchester Blvd. #E

Inglewood, CA 90301

Top Stories Around The City

Texas sent their 12th busload of migrants since July to Los Angeles Union Station. It raised questions about the legality and ethics of Texas governor Greg Abbott’s practice; especially since they’ve left a total of 25,000 people across LA, Washington, New York, Chicago, Philly and Denver. The ongoing drop offs by Texas authorities have sparked criticism and concerns about the wellbeing and rights of migrants involved by Karen Bass and LA city council. They argue that the busloads have been a way to expel migrants without proper legal proceedings or support and raise concerns about the welfare, legal status and an issue with human trafficking. Texas officials claim to be complying with federal law and court rulings despite chartering out a group in the midst of severe weather conditions. They face legal action on the grounds that this could infringe on the migrant’s rights and bypass established legal processes. LA City Council is still deliberating an approach as they address this on top of LA’s increase in homelessness.

Its boosting season in Los Angeles. Los Angeles authorities have created the Organized Retail Crime (ORC) Task Force to curb the series of retail flash mob robberies and ensure public safety in our city.

With the growing concern in LA, they believe swift action is necessary and have made 15 arrests since the force was organized 2 weeks ago. These loots have resulted in a loss of at least $100,000 for retailers causing local law enforcement and retail shop owners to collaborate with the hopes to slow down the activity and protect businesses from continuous theft and fraud. With how today’s economy is looking, I’d predict the looting will last far into the holiday season.

Los Angeles Lakers Welcome Christian Wood. 27 year old free agent forward/center Christian Wood officially fulfills his Lakeshow dreams! As of Tuesday, September 5, 2023 he joins as Los Angeles Lakers third center on a two year $5.7 Mill contract with a player option in his second year. Based on his scoring ability and flexibility with offense and defense Wood will be an asset to the team. It’s a good move to have him strengthen their front-court as they build a competitive team for the upcoming season. Let's take the Lakeshow all the way through the championship this time!
