I don’t know about you but I’ve been seeing a lot of Waymo cars around the city of Los Angeles. Waymo, Owned by the Alphabet company has been testing autonomous cars in Los Angeles for quite a while, Specifically in Los Angeles. Now they’ve decided to do something interesting.
They’ve recently introduced something called the Waymo One Tour, which will allow LA residents to ride in their driverless cars for free. The program starts in October & will operate in select Los Angeles Neighborhoods which include Koreatown, Century City, Downtown LA & more.
The tour officially starts October 11th of this year & will stretch through 2024. Since this will be apart of their “Early Access” program users will need to use the Waymo app & gain access to the “ticket to ride” obtainable by an in-person Waymo pop-up or by signing up on the waitlist.
If your lucky enough to get on the wait list you’ll have 24/7 access for a whole week once your ticket is secured. Passengers can only hail rides and be dropped off within the specific service area of the current month, but Waymo is defining neighborhoods quite liberally, such as including Venice in the Santa Monica service area and extending Mid City’s boundaries and extend as far as Wilshire and 3rd Street.
