The Los Angeles Music Scene is as hot as ever with the emergence of so much new talent. From Carson down to Long Beach there are plenty of artists putting on for the city.
With all this talent coming out It’s Important that we highlight those coming up in the city right now.
LA native Ahman Hardwick stopped by to talk music and his come up in the new LA music climate. Check out the conversation down below:
Where are you from?
I was born in and Long Beach California and when I was about 8 we moved like 15 min away from Long Beach but I still was going to school there and I still am.
I think alot of folks will be surprised when they hear your age. How old are you?
I’m 14 years old, born in 2005 on March 5th and I recorded and wrote my album Just Did It all at the age of 13.
At such a young age tracks such as “Manifestation” and “05 Til Forever” prove you ahead of your time. Where did you pick up this sort of wisdom?
I really picked it up just from being the youngest in my household and having many conversations with my parents and brother about real life stuff plus always overhearing adult conversations and always getting taught from my older brother.
Cause the system has divided in many ways that we don’t even comprehend and I feel like if we come together we can break it but it’s a hard task and probably won’t happen in our lifetime but we gotta help push it forward.
Where do you think you fit in the new wave of LA music
Truly I don’t really think I do fit in with the wave right now and I’m happy with that, I feel like I’m in my own lane and nobody really on the movement or mission I’m on that’s coming out of LA right now, not that I know of at least.
Does the city affect your sound at all?
The city does affect my sound at times, like when it comes to the songs I release on SoundCloud I’ll make hype songs on LA type beats cause you gotta give the people what they want but at the end of the day I still gotta put out the message I want to.
Your music holds a lot of substance; you can hear that in the music. Is there an overall message that you want to get across to the people in your music?
I don’t really think I do fit in with the wave right now and I’m happy with that, I feel like I’m in my own lane and nobody really on the movement or mission I’m on
Yeah, I just want people to see everything for what it really is and stop being so blind to the corruptness in the world and if you do see it stop just accepting and just don’t talk about changing it if your in a position where you can bring any type of difference DO IT! Cause the system has divided in many ways that we don’t even comprehend and I feel like if we come together we can break it but it’s a hard task and probably won’t happen in our lifetime but we gotta help push it forward.
Who are you listening to right now?
My playlist right now in no specific order is Kanye West, J.Cole, Common, Nipsey Hussle, Jay Z, Lil Coast, and EKALMIGHTYGLIZZY. Of course Lil Wayne plus many more.
What can we expect from your most recent project?
Of course more of whatever knowledge I gain throughout the period of my life. More empowerment to Black People and I just wanna come with better delivery, better beats, better flows, better bars, better cadences. Better everything. That’s what you should expect.
My influences are God, My mom, my brother, my father and pretty much all of my outside family I try to pick up from everybody success and mistakes to show myself what and what not to do. Then when it comes to music my number one influence is Kanye West just all around with creativity and being non-fearful and just always expressing what he feels and then J.Cole and Jay-Z especially as a business. Then Nipseys way of grinding and his ways of living like “The Marathon” and “All Money In” really push me and keep me hungry.
Nipsey passed last month, can you give us your take on him? How do you feel about the situation?
Nipsey was and is a legend forever and when I saw what had happened I was scrolling down Instagram and I couldn’t believe it like I seriously thought it was a joke at first but when I sadly found out it was true I started crying and sat in silence for minutes then I put “Face the World and just sat. The situation is horrible and the man who did is very ignorant and I pray God accepts him into heaven cause he did the unbelievable. I also send prayers to Nipsey’s kids and especially is the oldest one who had a relationship with us daughter I pray and hope she can get through the rest of her life happily. I send prayers to Lauren Londen to stay strong and still find happiness in life and to the other mother of his first child to stay strong and provide love for his daughter, and to Nip you really a savior and sacrifice sent from God I know you in heaven and while I’m here on earth ima fasho make sure THE MARATHON CONTINUES. ( and Nip got classics that’s timeless)
