“New Artist Are On Some Get Money Shit”: A Conversation With Sean EV

The Los Angeles Music Scene is as hot as ever with the emergence of so much new talent. From Carson down to Compton there are plenty of artists putting on for the city.

With all this talent coming out It’s Important that we highlight those coming up in the city right now.

LA native Sean EV stopped by to talk music and his come up in the new LA music climate. Check out the conversation down below:

1. Where are you from?

I’m from Hawthorne Ca, but I also grew up in Inglewood Ca for
most of my childhood.

2. Has the city and its environment played a part in the sort of music you put out?

Definitely, due to the fact that I’ve been living in an apartment my whole life sucks. Thankfully I was able to go back and forth to my aunts home in the wood. Seeing the beautiful houses out there really changed my perspective. Both cities have inspired me heavily. These two cities have shaped me into the artist and man I am today.

3.The track “Many Tears” was produced by a good friend of ours, how did you guys connected on that track?

Westkillinit, I just tapped in with him on some music shit
because of Kalan.FrFr. I fucked with bro music and I felt west produced some dope records so I wanted to tap in with him for the previous project I just dropped which was FTLOM.

4. Tell us about your previous tape FTLOM, what should we know about it?

Really just the intro to my life, like my boy Jayo said, it’s my “Section 80”. I talked about topics that I haven’t exposed before to people and it was dope because the project was just hella pure and authentic. So go tap in !!

He went in the living room and grabbed a blower and pointed it at me. I was so hot and stuck I couldn’t do anything

5. Dope, You dig deep on that track, Can you talk a little bit about the incident with you and your father? Did he really pull a gun on you?

Man, honestly I remember it like it was yesterday my moms and I were arguing about something and to be real the argument wasn’t even that deep but my dad was on some nosey shit and hopped in the argument on some turnt up shit and then he and I started going at it. He went in the living room and grabbed a blower and pointed it at me. I was so hot and stuck I couldn’t do anything, I just put my pride aside and just took that L. After that day I was so cool on bro, but now we good that happened in like 2012/2013.

6. Dropping your pride is a big one, Do you think that sort of awareness has helped you maneuver through life better?

I mean in that situation it was the smartest thing to do, but in general, sometimes you gotta stand by your beliefs. Then sometimes you gotta be smart and put your pride aside, it all depends on the situation.

7. The Los Angeles Rap scene is booming right now most people would say, how do you feel about the state of Los Angeles Rap?

It’s fire I’m fucking with everyone coming up, I feel like this wave of the new artist are just on some get money shit and really limiting the drama. We are all trying to get a bag and put our people in a better situation.

8. Where do you see yourself in today’s rap climate?

I see myself being a leader and an artist that is just here to supply dope content and inspire others like myself to focus on your goals and dreams and really achieve them. There is a lot of hating ass niggas in this
the world so focusing on really chasing my goals is the biggest thing I aspire to do.

It’s fire I’m fucking with everyone coming up, I feel like this wave of the new artist are just on some get money shit and really limiting the drama.

9. Who and what inspires you the most?

My struggle inspires me the most. Seeing my mom and pops struggle has inspired me to go so hard because I do this for them. I just
want to make them proud. Musically I am inspired by Dom K, Drake, Travis Scott, Ye, and Nipsey Hussle for sure.

10. What can we expect next from you?

Hella music, hella bangers I have a joint project with my boy Jayo Cortez coming in May, I been cooking up with my Manager and getting things in order. I will be working with DemJointz on some records and shooting visuals and just getting ready for the summer.
